Atlanta Style Bloggers turns 1!

Where in Atlanta are the sweetest tasting cupcakes, the most stylish bloggers and one of the best socializing and networking gatherings? At the Atlanta Style Blogger's one year anniversary event, that's where!

ASB
ASB is a community of Atlanta based lifestyle bloggers who blog about make-up, hair, personal style, jewelry and of course our favorite, fashion! We are proud members of this great community and joined in the fun last night to celebrate a great year of great style.

The Whiskey Blue, Atlanta

With the lovely Mattie James, the director of ASB. Look at her necklace, love it!
With other fellow blogger, designers and entrepreneurs (does anyone else see a trend in these pics?)!

Rows of gift bags and the sweetest cupcake.
Business card love!
You can see the Atlanta skyline in the background, it's so little!

It was a really great night filled with laughter, sharing stories while networking and socializing. We met a lot of wonderful and stylish people and can't wait for year 2. Cheers to ASB!

Dainty and Delicate

With a new season comes new fashion trends, color palettes, and new designer collections. This fall season, chunky and statement jewelry will be adorning the necks, arms and fingers of many fashionistas. We love a good statement necklace or ring but how about going in the opposite direction? Dainty and delicate rings! This trend is nothing new and has been around for a while but we just love the simple ladylike vibe it brings. You can stack them on top of each other, wear on on each finger or wear them as is.

Spiked about fashion!

When you think of spiked fashion, your first thought might be biker boys, grudge, rock stars or the 80's. But spiked fashion has come a long way since then and has walked down the runways of Spring 2012 and fall 2012 with feminine grace and style. Now, spikes are the perfect marriage between girly girl and edgy girl, you get the best of both worlds. They're put on lace, floral prints, and brocade for a very feminine and subtle look.

The easiest way to wear this look, if your a little uncertain, is in small doses— and what's  the best way to do that? With accessories of course! Bags, jewelry, headpieces, and belts are just some of the few ways.

To wear this look without looking too "spikey," look for spiked pieces with:
Neutral colors like black, brown, beige and navy.
A simple silhouette like a square bag or a classic fit jean.
Classic pieces, for example, a white collar shirt with a spiked collar or a classic jean and white t-shirt with a spiked belt.

Would you wear spiked fashion? If so, how? Let us know in the comments.

Lights, Camera, Sparkle!

1968, Detroit, Motown, glitz, glam and Sparkle

In the 2012 remake of Sparkle, Three sisters, Sparkle (Jordin Sparks), Tammy (Carmen Ejogo)  and Delores (Tika Sumpter) raised by their single mother (the late Whitney Houston), form a girl group. They strive to become a dynamic singing group in the hopes of becoming Motown's next singing sensation. But learn that fame is not all about the glitz, glam and sparkle.

The 1960's retro fashion was an era that was free, experimental and broke through many fashion barriers. Sparkle is filled with the retro style of the 1960's where mini skirts and go-go boots were popular. The movie's costume designer, Ruth E. Carter, found inspiration in today's contemporary style and looked through many magazines like Vogue and Elle. Don't be surprised to see the fashions of the 1960's in 2012.

Falling in love with floral prints!

We love when trends transition from one season into the next and with our favorite season, fall, just around the corner, floral prints will still be in full bloom (pun intended)! And while spring and summer floral prints might be pushed to the back burner, fall floral prints will be front and center.

Spring floral prints gave us sun showers with tulips, orchids, cheery blossoms, cosmos (not the drink or the magazine!) and lilies.

Fall will bring us these same lovely prints but against darker colors like cobalt blue, forest green, black, purple, grey, and burgundy. They will be rich, lavish, obscure and perfect for those cold winter afternoons or nights while sipping hot chocolate with a few fluffy marshmallows!
