Jagged edge, no jagged fashion!

Houndstooth is a very distinctive fabric that draws the eye in many different directions. With its jagged edges and broken abstract checks, this bold print is perfect for fall. The print first originated in the lowlands of Scotland in the 1800s and got its name because the quirky pattern resembles the edges of a hound dog's back teeth.

This print was popular in the 1930s and 1940s and is used today with many other materials, in and out of the fashion world. Today, you can find this print in tweed, wool, and cotton fabrics and also on dresses, jackets, skirts, handbags and shoes. The colors were traditionally black and white but have gotten  modern updates throughout the years with bold color choices.

  1. Although this trend looks great on the gals above, it's one pattern that really does NOTHING for me. I had a blouse like this years ago that I liked at the time, but looking back at pictures and such, I notice that it was really unflattering!

    1. Awww, it probably wasn't as bad as you think! Try breaking up the look with a solid black blazer or cardigan :)
