Monochromatic style!

We've talked about color blocking  and mixing spots and stripes in our previous post. Now we're going to take the opposite approach. A monochromatic outfit, using only one color, is fashion forward and an unexpected look. It's also a styling technique that can make you look taller!

This may seem hard to pull off because it's an intentional look, but it's not as hard as it looks. If you're unsure how to pull it off, look no further because Wil Harris to the rescue =)

♥You can create contrast with different fabrics to break the look up a little. You can mix silk with sequins or lace.
Look for contrasting colors that are in the same family.
♥Black is the easiest way to do the monochromatic look. Mix it up with contrasting fabrics.
♥Denim  is another way to go. Pair your blue jeans with a blue shirt and accessories.
♥ A pop of color or patterned accessories (like a scarf or leopard belt) can also work with neutrals and even soft, pastel colors.

Calvin Klein’s pre-Fall 2009 serve black monochrome collection. The use of different fabrics give these black monochromatic looks a more interesting edge.

  3. The monochromatic look definitely can make you seem taller. I do this with black all the time because it's so easy. But I would love to try it with mint green and all white.
