Girl Power!

Music and style are somewhat interchangeable as they both serve as a means of self-expression. So it’s come with no surprise that girl groups were also trendsetters in fashion- then and now.
1960’s groups like the Supremes gave us glitz, glamour and just plain divaness while modern day groups like Destiny's Child gave us contemporary, loud prints, and funky cut-outs.

The Supremes, and other groups like them, paved the way for future girl groups to create and embrace their individual style. So, from the glamorous style of The Supremes to the boldness of TLC, we bring you Girl Power!

The Supremes
Years active:1959-1977

The Spice Girls

Every over-the-top trend of the 90s can be found in the Spice Girls: ridiculous platform shoes, chunky highlights, baby doll dresses, bare midriffs, hair knots, vinyl pants, track pants with crop tops, metallics, neons, sequins, glitter...

Destiny's Child
Years active: 1997-2005
Designed and styled by Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, Destiny’s Child was always on their own fashion wave...always. With little influence from the trends at the time, the group always made a statement with their super-coordinated looks, whether people liked it or not.

TLC
Years active: 1990-2011
The ladies of TLC (T-Boz, Left Eye, and Chilli) = Crazy, Sexy, Cool. They had a street style image and were not afraid to go outside the fashion box . They wore over sized baggy clothes and made it look sexy at the same time.
