Masculine shabby chic look

Jeans have been taken to new heights with cuffed jeans.

The cuffed jean is a look that has been around since the 1950s where it was wide and loose. The look appeared again in the 1980s where it was narrow and tight and then made another appearance in 2009 where is was a combination of the 50s and 80s and according to the NY Times, became more popular in 2010.

Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn might have been the first to rock the look.

It is still relevant in 2012 where many men are rocking the masculine shabby chic look. For such a causal effortless look, It should be a bit unintentional and nonchalant, so don't try too hard.
Tom Julian, a fashion consultant and the author of two men’s style books with Nordstrom, suggest rolling one inch of cuff three times for cotton canvas trousers, and a single two-inch cuff for dark jeans.

The key to this look is to have a proper fit. It looks best with slim denims, khakis, chinos, corduroys, and cargos. Try to avoid this look with tight skinny jeans because frankly, it'll look like you're wearing jeggings.

If you want to show more of your personality and style, try wearing cuff jeans with socks. Not just white socks, unless you're going for the Michael Jackson or Steve Urkel look. Try a bold strip, a polka dot pattern or a bright solid color.

So fellas, get inspired by these runway models. Make it your own and rock the ankle deep with your jeans this season because we have a feeling this summer will be hot...very hot!

  1. I agree that there are a lot of guys out there that are trying way too hard. I'm a bit of a prep, but I love a man in a good fitting suit, a colorful tie and some fun socks. I don't think you can beat it.

    1. A good fitting suit works every time, love it!

  2. cute!!!
